Here’s where it gets interesting. We’re going to bottom out around -7°C by 3 AM under those clear skies, and with light winds, we’ll see some serious frost development. If you’re heading out late tonight or early tomorrow, expect to scrape the windshield and watch for black ice on any wet surfaces from yesterday’s melt.

But here comes the fun part – Wednesday morning is going to be a completely different story. We’ve got a strong low-pressure system tracking in from the west, and it’s going to flip our weather like a light switch. By 9 AM, we’ll already be climbing to -1°C, and by noon? We’re looking at 6°C with sunshine before clouds roll in.

The Big Picture This Week

The GFS and Euro models are in pretty good agreement on this pattern, and it’s textbook spring volatility for our region. Wednesday stays dry but windy – we’re talking 35 km/h gusts as that system approaches. Thursday brings the first round of precipitation with some drizzle and temperatures climbing to 13°C.

But Friday? That’s when Mother Nature reminds us it’s still early April. A cold front crashes through, dropping us back to 4°C with nearly 5 centimetres of snow possible. I know, I know – you just put the shovel away. Welcome to spring in Grey-Bruce.

From -7°C tonight to 13°C Thursday, then back to snow on Friday – that’s a 20-degree swing in 48 hours.

Practical Stuff

For tonight and early Wednesday: bundle up if you’re heading out. We’re talking winter jacket weather with that wind chill hitting double digits below. Wednesday’s commute should be fine – just expect some gusty conditions by afternoon, especially along the lakeshore highways.

The weekend rebounds nicely though – Saturday clears out, and Sunday could hit 18°C despite some light showers. That’s more like it for early April.
